Let the Home Study Begin

Well we are finally going to begin our home study. There was some initial confusion with the first agency and they were unable to work with Great Wall. Apparently the two agencies could not work out an interagency agreement. This left us short our application fee and searching for a new home study provider.
Anyway we now have a new home study provider and our first meeting is this Friday. Fortunately the majority of the information collected for our first agency can easily be transferred over. At least this experience was not a total waste of time.
We hope to have our home study completed in 6 to 8 weeks. Once completed we will be able to attach it to our I-600A and then wait another 2 to 3 months. I imagine this time is going to just drag along. One thing you can say about the paper chase phase is time moves right along. The idea of waiting on a form with nothing to do seems mind numbing to me. At least now we are running around trying to collect everything.
I will be sure to post how things went on Friday.

Our Journey Begins

Hello,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Shawn and I am a 32 year old computer programmer in Washington, D.C. My wife's name is Karen and she is a 31 year old Teacher in Southern Maryland. We've been married for 6 years and recently began the process of adopting our daughter from China. I hope to use this Blog to document our adoption journey for friends, family and of course our soon to be daughter.
We have enlisted the help of Great Wall China Adoption to guide us through the process and are still working on obtaining a home study agency. So far we have run into a few speed bumps, but I suppose these are to be expected.
Feel free to post any comments, advice or even stories you would like to share. I hope to keep this page active so check back from time to time.
